    Infantry Units

    From my observation of units so far:

    Rifle units - I guess cannon fodder for want of a better term, but they are needed, otherwise better units suffer too many casualties.

    SMG - Good on defence, seem to be better in rougher terrain, but taht could be just coincidence from what i have seen.

    MG - needed on defence, especially against other infantry types. Their slowmovement may be the hindrance while attacking.

    Bazooka - needed against tanks in thedefence or offence

    Mortars - unsure here as would have to experiment with different situations.

    All Infantry overall seem to be best on the defensive, especially when combined with Anti Tank Guns and Field Guns.

    Depending on the situation then vehicles are combined with them for movement

    Tanks

    One of my favorite units is the light tank. It is the workhorse of my armies for several reasons

    1. It is easy to produce-a tank factory can produce 4 per month vs 2 per month for medium tanks and tank destroyers. losses can rapidly be replaced.

    2. Light tanks are very effective against infantry formations.

    3. Light anks even though inferior to medium tanks can defend against them reasonably well especially when they are at level III or IV..

    4. Light tanks use less fuel than larger tanks. This is very important if you have a large mechanized army. There is never enough fuel unless you have stockpiled a lot before the war. Even then the sockpile decreses rapidly when engaged in battle. I am tlking about using 30,000 to 40,000 units of fuel per month to keep everything going.

    Medium tanks

    It is a good iea to build medium tanks if you are facing an enemy with medium tanks. Medium tanks are quite vulnerable to dive bombers. so you need to provide them with antiair units or air cover

    Heavy Tanks

    I have no experience with heavy tanks or medium tanks above level II either on offense or defense.

    Oh yeah I got the General Idea LOL

    There are certain cards that apply to higher HQ levels Like Army Groups, like Planning, and Training.

    The one you mention do have a lot of risk with them tho, which I applied one of my Generals who was magnificent, but he got killed in a car crash of all things. Yes he had traits like Patton by the way.

    Inundate-he can flood a hex adjacent to a river. Good for defense

    Hold-Provides extra defensive bonus to one unit

    Rebels-Can incite rebellion in a enemy held city if the population is favorable to the generals country

    Some more notes of infantry units. Please add your observations

    Heavy machine guns-These are great on defense. On offense I cannot see a difference but the heavy machine gunseem to take a lot of casulties on offense. The heavy machine gun restricts the movement of the infantry unit unless horses/trucks are provided for them.

    Mortar-I really cannot see that they add much on offense or defense..

    Bazooka- I can see there is a definite advantage to adding bazooka's to infantry forces. On defense they will cause casulties to attacking tank forces although usually they will not stop a tank attack. In addition, they do not slow down the infantry unit the way an AT gun will. I do not know how effective they are on offense.
